According to a report by the Xinhua News Agency on October 26, the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry announced a day earlier that the number of mobile phone subscribers in China had grown to 377 million at the end of September, meaning that the third quarter saw a 7.7% sequential increase. There were 29.1 mobile phones per 100 people in the country at that point in time. Furthermore, the number of fixed-line subscribers stood at 345 million at the end of September, or 26.6 subscribers per 100 people.
